Becoming Catholic - Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
-The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a process that helps adults become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. It was previously called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
The OCIA process involves a journey of faith and conversion, where participants learn about the Catholic Church's beliefs, life, liturgy, and apostolic work. It also includes classes, discussions, prayer times, and ceremonies. The process is designed to help people grow in their faith and knowledge of God, and to consider whether they are ready to become Catholic. The OCIA process is intended for adults who:
Have not been baptized and want to become Catholic through baptism
Have been baptized in another Christian community and want full communion with the Catholic Church
Were baptized Catholic as children but did not receive confirmation and the Eucharist
The OCIA process also allows Catholics to complete their reception of the initiation sacraments, which include baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist.
If you are interested in finding out more about OCIA please contact Dawn Ritter at 989-723-4277 ext 1105 or [email protected].
Just because you start OCIA, doesn't mean you are committed to finishing. If you are merely curious about what Catholicism is, please feel free to come. All are welcome.
